WoW Insider’s got the full list of set bonuses: I’ve replicated the feral ones below.

  • Feral, 2P — While Berserk is active, Savage Defense absorbs are 100% larger, and your Blood in the Water talent now causes Ferocious Bite to refresh the duration of your Rip on targets with 60% or less health.
  • Feral, 4P — Frenzied Regeneration also affects all raid and party members, and your Stampede talent now grants two charges after using Feral Charge (Cat).
The Feral 2piece is a significant buff to DPS for cats. 2/2 BITW is worth roughly 1.6% DPS currently (yes, it really is that lackluster); boosting the BITW threshold to 60% will more than double its effectiveness, resulting in a overall ~2% buff to DPS. It’s roughly equivalent to the 2Pt12. The bear version is good mitigation and essentially gives bears another cooldown.
The Feral 4piece is highly highly situational for cat DPS. For fights like Ragnaros where adds have to DIE NOW, it’s amazing. For sustained DPS on a single target, it’s pretty worthless. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 2p/2p for a while. Jury will remain out. More important, however, is AoE Frenzied Regeneration. This is a HUGE raid cooldown if it includes the healing; my guess, however, is that it’ll only include the +15% health (and of course, its a DPS loss since we’re stuck in bear for the duration). This makes it a slightly weaker but longer-lasting Rallying Cry.  It will be PRICELESS, however, if it works solely on other rage-based classes (FuryWar: “WTF where’s my rage?”). This will give DPS ferals two significant raid-wide CDs, which is a huge dollop of utility.
Feel free to speculate in the comments!

  1. Just want to point out that the tooltip for Frenzied Regen is incorrect. It’s still 30%. Blizzard acknowledged that it’s a problem with the tooltip and that they don’t intend to reduce the health bonus that FR provides down to 15%. I don’t know why they’re taking so long to fix it. @_@

  2. Since tanks bonus are oriented on raid cooldown, we can assume that the fights vs. Deathwing will require it.

Thus, Kitty 4P looks like the bonus you will want in your raid. I won’t be surprised to see guilds like Paragon getting the first few kills by stacking feral DPS to get an outrageous amount of raid cooldowns.

Wait, in fact, I would be surprised if they don’t.

    • This is better.

It requires a slightly wonky spec giving up Battle Trance/Executioner and using the Prot tier instead of DPS tier (reforging ftw), but you get the added bonus of 44% Rallying Cry uptime in addition to a constant -20% damage taken (There’s no reason why Fury with a prot subspec wouldn’t work as well, however I suspect that giving up Deep Wounds is unacceptable.).

      • While feral with 4P can keep an optimized dps, are you sure that an arm warrior with protection 4P (and maybe some talent points in protection to get shield wall on a short CD) can be correct? I have absolutely no idea of stats weights and the importance of the DPS set bonus for warrior, but I guess that those fights against Deathwing will also require a very good raid DPS.

Plus I’m not sure that warrior are better than feral, since you trade:
        44% uptime rallying cry + 20% damage equivalent to +25% hp/heal
        vs.:
+30%hp/+20% heal (if the glyph actually applies to the whole raid) + tranquilities.

I think we can’t state wich one is the more lame without knowing more about the fights, but for sure both will be helpfull…

        • Well, you need 9 Druids vs 8 warriors. I specifically picked Pally tanks to provide the raid with consistent DR that’s not tied to the personal tank CD as well, though you can go to 10 warriors for more Rallying Cry uptime.

Yes, it requires a modification to the standard spec (to pick up Shield Mastery).

          Additional food for thought:
          a) Bringing up DPS checks then mentioning Tranquility feels flawed since that kills DPS.
          b) The disruption suffered to use utility is *considerably* lower for a warrior. (Shield Wall does require a Shield but there’s no stance requirement can continue to use standard abilities though it will push back C. Smash, and uptime is higher than FR. Rallying Cry has zero personal disruption.)
          c) If there are any encounters that require more than 2 people interrupting (Tanks), Warriors are a far better choice. (NB: No Rude Interruption with the gimmick spec, but Pummel is free.)

*shrugs* It’s academic really. People will probably run with what they have.

        • I guess that in practice, you want to run with half warrior and half feral, it’s easier to gear them all than “all feral” or “all warrior” since they don’t need the same loots. :p

Nad of course, that’s if blizzard is stupid enough to not make it so that 4P only affect REAL tanks before 4.3 is released.

  3. I’m a little confused on the wording of the 2pc, it ist only 60% BITW when berserk is on, or at all times, because that comma makes it confusing

    • It would be all times, that coma is there to separate the bear/cat bonus’s.

Reesi puts it great – “2pc Cat – Uh. Hi. My name is execute range for over half the fight, how are you? And yes, you’re reading it incorrectly. You do not need Berserk up for Blood in the Water to go into effect. Execute range is being raised to 60%. Good Game, Ferals.”

  4. Blizz discouraging cats to use the tanking cd on the 4P:

“Feral, 4P — Frenzied Regeneration also affects all raid and party members. This effect cannot be triggered if you have been in Bear Form for less than 15 sec. In addition, your Stampede talent now grants two charges after using Feral Charge (Cat).”

  5. The 4pc just seems so very situational to me.

    Sort of off topic but:

Does anyone else feel like Blizzard did the melee DPS buff though raid buffs because they just said “fuck it we can’t fix melee because of PvP”?

Also I am not a math whizz nor a theorycrafter so I guess my question is: Isn’t that buff going to favor certain classes/specs more than others and lead to even more of a headache?

  6. WOOT Rejoice! They changed 4p

“Feral, 4P — Frenzied Regeneration also affects all raid and party members. This effect cannot be triggered if you have been in Bear Form for less than 15 sec. In addition, using Tiger’s Fury will cause your next Ravage to cost no energy, not require stealth, and have no positioning requirement for 10 sec.”

  7. […] Alaron’s right about what this will do for cats, plan on two-piece tier 13 being a 2% DPS increase that I can see getting paired with two-piece […]
