703 Ovale thread

Coinciding with the above, I'm currently running Incarnation, Savage Roar, Moment of Clarity. My sims are putting me higher (1.3Mil, which I hit) than the normal Incarnation, Savage Roar, Blood Talons (1.1Mil, which I hit). So It appears as if this build is stronger. On top of that, currently wearing T19 instead of T20...

To get to the point, the below comes into question:

1.) Prior script suggested Shred at 5cp (even at full Energy). Wouldn't a 5cp FB provide more output?
2.) Will the new script allow me to switch back to T20 for better damage output.

2 problems I'm getting with the new script:

OvaleAST: syntax error, unexpected token '#' when parsing DECLERATION; decleration keyword expected. Next tokens: # wild_charge_cat <EOS> - comes up when I copy the new script in.

Second problem, Ovale doesn't show at all, can't see a thing.

Please help!

What version of simcraft (and what script if you're using a custom one) are you using? Cause when I sim you I get a much better BT numbers (roughly equal to MoC, which is what I would expect). 1.323m for MoC and 1.316m for BT. No crucible thou since I can't import that from the armory but that shouldn't matter.

Was the guardian script scrapped from the most recent version? I'm not getting anything when I change specs. Not a super big deal since I'm mainly thankful to have an updated feral script but does anyone know how to get ovale to support two custom scripts so I can use the latest for feral and the previous version as a bear?

Yeah, haven't updated it yet, just switch to the default guardian (icyveins), works fine.

I have the feeling that while Inkarnation is active and I'm about to bite there is no HT suggested.
Or shouldn't I use HT while Inkarnation is active?

You only use it if you need ot refresh Rip or Rake. Otherwise its not worth the gcd (unless you are going to end up energy starved, but most of the time that's not the case).

I'm having the same issue, and recopied the script into Ovale with no change (a couple days ago). I must've grabbed it again right before the update on the 24th, or maybe the problem was present in that version also. It looks like schmoo changed it 10 hours ago, so I'm gonna give it a shot.

Seems like it works well, could maybe use some more aoe optimization with brutal slash (bt charges, do you ever use Thrash in place of Shred since you no longer have swipe, etc.).

There does seem to be a minor bug where if something is dying soon that it won't suggest Shred but I generally only see it on target dummies that I've burned down and occasionally out in the world or when targeting adds but its not as bad as it used to be where shred just wouldn't show up at all.

Thanks for getting back to me, sorry for the delayed response, been busy. But you did prove me right in that MoC is simming higher than BT. I'm using SimulationCraft 730-02. My breakdowns currently are (a few new items):

Using T19 4piece (average ilvl 930) with INC, SR, MoC = 1410193 dps
Using T20 4piece (average ilvl 933) with INC, SR, BT = 1410741 dps

*Note that I'm using the same legendary combinations in both sims (Behemoth + SotA) and I've scaled the stat weights accordingly on my gear that I have lying around to optimize what's available.

So at a lower ilvl and older gear, i can push out the same dps as the new gear (slightly higher ilvl).... At this point, I guess it's a matter of "play style." Which do I like to play with. I just don't see the major lead that BT is supposedly holding.

I can also state that MoC produced slightly higher DPS in SimCraft with the same gear (currently iLvl 914)

Yeah playstyle is a big choice in the MoC/BT argument. I prefer BT because i can choose when a buff bleed gets applied rather than hope for RNG.

I think MoC sims higher for same reason the Frond trinket does, it expects higher uptimes than what most fights can allow for, unless you play like a machine.

Also, awesome work Shmoo! The script appears to run very clean right now.

Hey guys so I see that there is an option in the new script for showing interrupts in the Ovale addon. For me its not suggesting any interrupt and i dont have a checkbox either. I have repasted the script several times.
Is there anything else i have to look for?

Long time lurker here and just wanted to say thank you Shmoo and so many others for this work, it made feral a shit ton of fun in raids up until legion when I started tanking for my guild. I'm trying to get back to feral and I've been trying to paste the new code into ovale and when i paste it I can't add the space needed at the end of the script. Ovale seems to be freaking out, cursor jumping all over and i can't find the end of the script so i checked curse and i do see others having this issue but i see no resolution posted. Does anyone here have any advice?

Had the same problem. Just hit "End" and "Return" - it should work.
If it doesn't work - just paste it in notepad, add the missing line and copy/paste it into Ovale.

For me both methods worked.

I just put in a pull request to Ovale that will make my script the default for feral. Not sure when it will get updated as I'm not in control of that, but the intent, at least for now, is you just use it as the default (as opposed to a custom script), and then use its current default guardian script which works well until I feel like updating the old one. If you really want my version of the guardian script. This one has both in it, though I haven't tested or updated it (though I suspect it works fine):
